The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has strongly condemned the conduct of certain players and officials during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between host nation Morocco and Senegal in Rabat. CAF described the behaviour witnessed during and after the match as “unacceptable” and contrary to the values of fair play and respect that the competition stands for.

The final, which ended in a 1–0 victory for Senegal after extra time, was overshadowed by heated protests from the Senegalese team. At one point, Senegal’s players briefly walked off the pitch in protest at a late penalty decision, delaying the game before returning to complete the match.

CAF said it is reviewing all available video footage from the match and will refer those responsible for disciplinary action to the appropriate bodies within the organisation. The governing body made clear that sanctions could be imposed on any players or officials found to have breached CAF regulations.

The controversial scenes sparked broader criticism from the global football community, including calls for respect for the sport’s integrity following the chaotic finish.
