Two supporters of English club Chelsea FC were hospitalised with non‑life‑threatening injuries in Naples, Italy, on Tuesday evening just hours before their team’s UEFA Champions League clash against Napoli. The incident has raised fresh concerns about fan safety ahead of major European football fixtures.

The supporters were attacked while walking through the city, with one of the victims reportedly stabbed in the leg during an alleged confrontation with a group of local ultras. Both injured fans were taken to hospital and are expected to recover after receiving treatment.

Following the incident, Chelsea FC issued an official warning to all travelling supporters, advising them to exercise extreme caution while in Naples. The club urged fans to stay in groups, avoid wearing identifiable team colours, and follow all safety recommendations provided ahead of the match.

Around 2,500 Chelsea fans were expected to attend the game at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, and local authorities organised police‑escorted shuttle services to help supporters travel safely to the stadium.

The incident occurred on the eve of the crucial Champions League fixture, which has significant implications for Chelsea’s progression in the competition. The club continues to monitor the situation and has been encouraging all visitors in Naples to remain vigilant during their stay.
