Turkish club Fenerbahçe has stepped up its efforts to bring Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman to Istanbul, opening formal negotiations with Italian side Atalanta over a potential mid‑season transfer.

Club officials from the Süper Lig title chasers are understood to have renewed contact with Atalanta, discussing terms that could see the 28‑year‑old join Fenerbahçe before the close of the January window. The Turkish side reportedly values Lookman highly and is exploring various deal structures, including offers that combine a loan with a mandatory purchase option.

Lookman, a key forward for Atalanta, has attracted interest from several European teams as his contract runs until 2027, and sources indicate that negotiations are ongoing with multiple parties evaluating his next move. Alongside Fenerbahçe’s interest, other clubs are also monitoring the winger’s situation, meaning the transfer battle could intensify in the coming days.

Both clubs are yet to announce a definitive agreement, but the renewed talks mark a significant step forward in what could become a high‑profile transfer this winter.
