Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced plans to pursue what he described as “fair and equitable” negotiations with the United States, instructing the country’s foreign minister to begin efforts toward renewed dialogue.

In a statement posted on social media Tuesday, Pezeshkian said any talks with Washington would be carried out strictly within the framework of Iran’s national interests.

“These negotiations shall be conducted within the framework of our national interests,” he said.

The president added that Iran’s approach to discussions would be guided by “dignity, prudence, and expediency,” emphasizing that Tehran would only engage under conditions it considers appropriate.

Pezeshkian did not specify where the proposed talks could take place but noted that Iran would seek a “suitable” venue one free from threats or what he called unreasonable expectations.

The announcement comes amid continued international pressure over Iran’s nuclear programme and broader tensions between Tehran and Washington.
