Police in Anambra State have arrested a woman following allegations that she physically mistreated her 17-year-old domestic worker at her residence in Awka.

The case came to light after school authorities noticed visible injuries on the teenager and raised an alarm with law enforcement officials. Their report prompted officers to visit the home and begin an investigation into the situation.

Preliminary findings indicate that the incident allegedly happened after a disagreement involving the use of a mobile phone. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning while the victim was removed from the environment and given care and protection.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and they have assured the public that appropriate legal steps will be taken based on the outcome of their findings. They also encouraged residents and institutions to report suspected abuse cases promptly to prevent further harm.
