Abia’s political future will be decided by those who show up prepared, and that preparation begins with voter registration, according to Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, a 2027 governorship hopeful in the state. He urged residents not to delay in securing their Permanent Voter Card, describing it as the foundation of meaningful participation in the democratic process.

Kalu said many citizens often wait until election season before realizing their details are outdated or their cards missing, a situation he described as avoidable. He encouraged first time voters, especially young people who have just reached voting age, to step forward and register, while advising those who have changed location or lost their cards to update their records.

According to him, development does not happen by chance but through deliberate choices made at the ballot. He noted that decisions about jobs, roads, schools, healthcare, and business opportunities are influenced by who the people empower through their votes.

He also called on community leaders, faith based organizations, professional bodies, and youth associations to spread the message within their networks. Collective awareness, he said, will ensure that no eligible Abian is left out of the electoral process due to ignorance or last minute pressure.

Kalu maintained that conversations about good governance must be backed by action, stressing that registration is the first step toward holding leaders accountable. He added that strong voter turnout sends a clear signal that the people are ready to shape the direction of their state.

He concluded by reminding residents that 2027 may seem far away, but the process that determines the outcome has already begun, urging every eligible voter to treat their PVC not as a mere card but as their personal stake in Abia’s future.
