Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore has issued a scathing public statement accusing some senior Nigeria Police officials of misconduct and shielding unlawful activities within police installations. Sowore alleged that misconduct at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters undermines public trust and reflects a dysfunctional command culture.

In a detailed message shared on his social media platform, he claimed that senior officers have fostered an environment where criminal elements are allegedly aided rather than investigated — a charge he insists is harming police credibility and citizen safety. Sowore called on Nigerians and civil society groups to demand transparency and accountability from the police hierarchy.

The activist also urged a thorough probe into the conduct of certain high-ranking officers, arguing that internal reform is essential to restore confidence in policing institutions and safeguard civil liberties.

The Nigeria Police Force has not yet responded directly to Sowore’s recent assertions. Sowore’s comments come amid ongoing legal disputes and public debates over how law enforcement agencies engage with dissenting voices in the country.
