Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has intensified efforts to rally political support in Abia State for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election campaign. He made his appeal during a visit to Honourable Uchenna Erondu Junior, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly, urging him to switch allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and to help build grassroots support for the president’s second‑term bid.
Kalu described the task of securing victory for Tinubu as larger than any individual’s political ambition and praised the president’s policies and leadership style, saying they have helped the country make progress. He stressed that APC offers greater opportunities and encouraged Erondu Junior to bring his supporters into the party fold.
In response, Erondu Junior expressed gratitude and affirmed his intention to consider the move seriously. He also voiced confidence that Tinubu’s re‑election campaign would receive strong backing in the state, particularly in the southern zone, noting that Abia South is prepared to deliver votes for the president.
Kalu’s push for support reflects broader efforts by APC leaders in the region to consolidate political backing ahead of the 2027 general election.
