Newcastle United stormed into the Champions League Round of 16 after a dominant 9–3 aggregate win over Qarabag. The English side carried their first-leg advantage into the return fixture at St. James’ Park, emerging with a 3–2 victory.
Sandro Tonali and Joelinton put Newcastle ahead early, with Sven Botman extending the lead before Qarabag scored twice late in the match. Despite Qarabag’s fightback, Newcastle maintained control throughout to secure their place in the next stage.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen advanced comfortably after holding Olympiacos to a goalless draw in Germany. Their 2–0 first-leg win proved enough to see them through to the last 16.
Both clubs will now prepare for the Champions League knockout draw to find out who they will face in the next round.
