Dr Uche Ogah has been officially inaugurated as the Co-Chairman of the Michael Okpara University Business School, with a strong commitment to reposition the institution as a globally competitive centre for entrepreneurial and leadership excellence. The inauguration ceremony drew the attention of academic stakeholders, administrators, and development partners who described the appointment as a strategic move towards strengthening the university’s business and leadership capacity.
In his inaugural remarks, Dr Ogah emphasized the urgent need to build practical leadership capacity in Nigeria, noting that the future of the country depends on producing well trained entrepreneurs and competent professionals. According to him, the Business School will focus on grooming great minds who are not just academically sound but also practical practitioners capable of leading and succeeding in a competitive global economy.
He lamented the struggles of entrepreneurs in Nigeria, explaining that many business owners are forced to handle every aspect of their businesses alone due to the lack of structured managerial capacity. He stated that this gap in leadership and entrepreneurial training is one of the core challenges the school intends to address through a practical and solution driven learning approach.
Dr Ogah further disclosed that he has already shared strategic ideas with the institution’s leadership on how the Business School can evolve beyond local recognition to become a global brand. He stressed that the school must not only bear the name of a business school but must function like one with international relevance, vision, and impact.
He pointed out that the goal is to model the institution after globally respected business schools, while still adapting to the Nigerian and African economic realities. He noted that the vision is to build a balanced business school in Nigeria that can compete internationally and even surpass global benchmarks in innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership training.
Congratulating the university management on the milestone, Dr Ogah assured the institution of his unwavering support, stating that he is fully committed to the growth and transformation of the Business School. He concluded by reaffirming that the school will become a breeding ground for future business leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will contribute meaningfully to national and global development.
