U.S. President Donald Trump hosted a reception at the White House for Inter Miami and their star forward Lionel Messi after the club secured the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup championship. The event brought together the team’s players, coaches, and owners to acknowledge their success on the field.

Messi, who played a key role in Miami’s title run and was named the league’s most valuable player, presented President Trump with a signed club jersey, a decorated soccer ball, and other memorabilia as part of the celebration. Inter Miami co‑owner Jorge Mas and head coach Javier Mascherano also took part in the presentation.

During the ceremony, Trump praised Messi’s impact on the sport and reflected on the club’s achievements, including their MLS Cup victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. He drew comparisons between Messi and legendary players from soccer’s past while highlighting the growing profile of the league in the United States.

The White House event continued a tradition of honouring championship teams, with MLS Commissioner Don Garber and other notable figures also in attendance. Messi’s visit marked his first official appearance at the presidential residence.
