The Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has revealed plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to mobilise about 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South-West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bamidele made the disclosure during the inauguration of the 57-member Ekiti Governorship Campaign Council in Ado-Ekiti. He explained that the June 20 governorship election in the state would also serve as a test of public support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.
Commending the governor’s performance, Bamidele described Oyebanji’s projects and programmes as remarkable, expressing confidence that the APC would record a decisive victory in the election.
According to him, the governor has demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to improving the welfare of Ekiti residents.
He stressed the importance of voter mobilisation, urging party members and eligible residents to take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Bamidele noted that Ekiti currently has about 987,647 registered voters, adding that the party aims to increase the figure by at least 50 per cent by August 2026 to strengthen participation in both the governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
He also assured party members that the campaign council would work with discipline and unity to secure a landslide victory for the APC, targeting up to 90 per cent of the votes in Ekiti.
In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji appreciated Bamidele for his support and pledged that his re-election campaign would focus on issues, policies and development plans rather than personal attacks.
The governor further called on all candidates to strictly follow the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 to ensure a peaceful, credible and transparent electoral process.
