The Peoples Democratic Party has named former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, as head of its committee responsible for organising the party’s 2026 national convention.

Ikpeazu, who is also Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Spain, will oversee preparations for the gathering slated for March 29 and 30, 2026. His appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the party’s National Caretaker Working Committee and signed by Samuel Anyanwu.

According to the party leadership, the committee is made up of experienced figures drawn from different regions of the country, reflecting efforts to ensure broad representation in the planning process.

The team has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating all activities leading to the convention, including logistics, compliance with party rules, and smooth execution of proceedings.

Party officials expressed confidence that Ikpeazu’s leadership experience and familiarity with party structures would help deliver a well-organised convention as the PDP prepares for key internal decisions and future political engagements.
