A fresh wave of political tension has emerged in Abia State after former governor and current senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, openly questioned the state government’s handling of federal project acknowledgments.

Speaking at a gathering of political allies in Igbere, Kalu insisted that Governor Alex Otti should be more transparent about the contributions of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to infrastructure development in the state. He argued that many ongoing projects are being wrongly portrayed, despite heavy federal involvement.

Kalu also raised concerns over what he described as exaggerated project costs and selective presentation of achievements. According to him, the public deserves a clearer picture of how funds are being utilized, warning that such issues could become major campaign topics in future elections.

He further signaled that political accountability would soon take center stage, stressing that leaders cannot avoid scrutiny indefinitely. His remarks suggested that the next electoral cycle would serve as a test of transparency and performance for those in power.

Addressing internal party affairs, Kalu expressed confidence in the growing unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia, praising the role of Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu in stabilizing the party structure. He urged members to stay focused and rally behind the party’s broader electoral goals.

Other stakeholders at the event also reaffirmed their support for the APC, emphasizing the need for cohesion and sustained grassroots mobilization ahead of upcoming political contests.
