A condemned inmate in Ebonyi State has raised serious concerns about the fairness of his conviction, alleging that the legal process leading to his death sentence was fundamentally compromised. The prisoner insists that critical steps expected in a proper criminal investigation were never carried out before he was found guilty.

According to his account, authorities failed to conduct any meaningful investigation into the case, leaving key questions unanswered. He further claimed that no eyewitness testimony was presented during the trial, raising doubts about the strength of the evidence used to secure his conviction.

The inmate also alleged that financial inducements may have influenced the outcome of the case, suggesting that some individuals involved in the process were compromised. He described the proceedings as a “set-up,” arguing that the absence of credible evidence points to a miscarriage of justice.

His claims have added to growing concerns about the integrity of certain criminal trials, especially in capital punishment cases, where the consequences are irreversible. The case is now drawing attention to the need for stricter adherence to due process and thorough investigations in the justice system.
