Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has congratulated the State Ministry of Arts and Culture following the approval of a federal government contract for the retrofitting of the historic Ojukwu Bunker.
Governor Otti made the commendation during his ongoing monthly media chat, where he highlighted the importance of preserving key historical assets in the state. He described the development as a major milestone in efforts to safeguard Abia’s rich cultural heritage and promote tourism.
The Governor also praised the Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Mr. Matt Ekwerube, for his dedication and the progress recorded under his leadership. He noted that the ministry has continued to demonstrate commitment in promoting the state’s cultural identity and repositioning its historical sites.
While expressing satisfaction with the achievements so far, Governor Otti urged the commissioner to intensify his efforts and remain focused on delivering greater results. He emphasized that excellence in service often attracts higher responsibilities.
According to him, the retrofitting of the Ojukwu Bunker will not only preserve a significant historical landmark but also stimulate tourism, create economic opportunities, and further place Abia State on the cultural map.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the arts and culture sector, stressing that it remains a vital component of sustainable development.
