The Abia State Government has given a two-day deadline to resolve the ongoing strike by judiciary workers, signaling urgency in restoring normal operations within the state’s courts. Officials say the move is aimed at minimizing disruptions to the justice system and addressing workers’ concerns promptly.

As part of efforts to settle the dispute, the government has asked the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in the state to provide verifiable evidence supporting claims of unpaid leave bonuses. Authorities insist that any outstanding entitlements must be clearly documented to enable swift review and action.

Government representatives noted that dialogue remains open, but emphasized that transparency from all parties is crucial to reaching a fair resolution. They reiterated their commitment to workers’ welfare while also stressing the importance of maintaining uninterrupted judicial services.

Meanwhile, stakeholders and residents have expressed concern over the prolonged strike, urging both sides to reach a compromise within the stipulated timeframe to avoid further delays in legal proceedings.
