Abuja, Nigeria-The Super Falcons received a hero’s welcome at the Presidential Villa in Abuja as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted a grand reception in their honour, celebrating their outstanding performance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The colourful event, held at the State House Banquet Hall, brought together top government officials, sports administrators, football legends, and fans, who gathered to applaud the team’s dedication and resilience throughout the tournament.
President Tinubu, while addressing the players and officials, commended the Super Falcons for making the nation proud, stating that their victory has not only united the country but has also inspired millions of young Nigerians. “You have shown the true spirit of Nigeria, strong, determined, and unstoppable,” the President said.
He further pledged continued government support for women’s football, promising improved facilities, training programmes, and welfare for athletes.
The event featured a photo session with the President, cultural performances, and the presentation of national honours and cash rewards to the team members.
