Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has assured Nigerians that the team is fully prepared to give their best and secure victory in tomorrow’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda’s Amavubi.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Friday, Ekong said the players were motivated and determined to meet the expectations of millions of supporters.
“We are ready for our game plan. We’ve had good training sessions, and I know my teammates are focused,” the captain stated. “We understand the importance of this match and what it means to represent Nigeria. Our ambition is to qualify for the World Cup, and this game is a crucial step.”
Nigeria currently sits fourth in Group C with seven points from six matches, behind South Africa (13 points), Rwanda (8 points), and Benin Republic (8 points). A win against Rwanda would revive hopes of qualification and ease pressure on the squad.
Troost-Ekong stressed that the Super Eagles have the quality to deliver, noting that the players are committed to making fans proud. “We need to be serious, take it step by step, and deliver on the pitch. We are motivated, confident, and ready to fight for victory,” he said.
The Super Eagles face Rwanda tomorrow in what promises to be a decisive clash in their quest for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
