Bafana Bafana captain, Ronwen Williams, has stressed the importance of securing all three points when South Africa face Nigeria in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. Hugo Broos’ men will host the Super Eagles in a decisive Group D clash at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday night.
South Africa currently lead the group with 16 points from seven matches, putting them in a strong position ahead of the showdown. In contrast, Nigeria sit third with only seven points from the same number of games, making the encounter a must-win for the visitors.
A victory for Bafana Bafana could see them seal qualification for the global showpiece, provided results from other fixtures go in their favour. However, Williams insisted the team’s full focus remains on defeating Nigeria, rather than relying on outcomes elsewhere.
“The most important thing is to get the job done. We do not want any favours from anyone, we want to do things our way,” the Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper told Safa.net.
