The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has urged teachers in the state to identify and nurture the potentials of pupils under their care.
Speaking in Umuahia on Friday during the distribution of educational materials to pupils under the first phase of the “Back to School Outreach” program, Mrs. Otti described teachers as “the hands that hold the future.” She encouraged them to teach with care and compassion to raise responsible future leaders for the state.
She noted that the initiative, carried out under the Safe School Tent project, would help ensure that every child, including those from vulnerable backgrounds, has unhindered access to education.
According to her, the gesture complements the free and compulsory education program launched earlier this year by Governor Alex Otti. She also revealed that the outreach will be expanded to at least one community in every ward across the state in subsequent phases.
Mrs. Otti urged parents and pupils to make effective use of the materials to develop their abilities. She further recalled how Governor Otti, who was born into a humble family, rose through education to become a leader and champion of learning, encouraging children to emulate his example.
The Abia First Lady also expressed gratitude to partners who supported the initiative.
