The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped one place in the latest FIFA men’s world ranking released on Thursday. Previously ranked 44th, the three-time African champions now occupy the 45th position globally.
On the continental stage, Nigeria also fell to sixth in Africa. Morocco’s Atlas Lions lead the African charge in 11th place worldwide, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire completing the top five.
The Super Eagles were last in action during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where they secured a 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo and held South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to a 1-1 draw in Bloemfontein.
Meanwhile, Spain dethroned Argentina to claim the number one spot in the world rankings, ending the South Americans’ two-year dominance. Slovakia recorded the biggest leap, moving up 10 places.
