Seventeen Super Eagles players, including star strikers Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, have reported to camp in Polokwane, South Africa, as Nigeria steps up preparations for Friday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.
The players arrived on Tuesday, a day after the technical crew and backroom staff officially opened the team’s base ahead of the decisive encounter.
Those already in camp include team captain William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Terem Moffi, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, and Tolu Arokodare. Returning defender Semi Ajayi has also joined the squad alongside goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Adebayo Adeleye, and Amas Obasogie.
Nigeria, currently third in Group C of the CAF World Cup qualifiers with 11 points from eight matches, must win its remaining two games and hope for favourable results from South Africa and Benin Republic to keep their World Cup qualification dreams alive.
The three-time African champions will take on Lesotho on Friday in Polokwane in what is widely regarded as a must-win showdown for the Super Eagles.
