Grange School made a strong start in the opening leg of Season 7 of the Dolphin Swimming League, topping the secondary school division with an impressive 355 points during the weekend event in Lagos. The victory places them ahead of Children International School, which finished second with 254.5 points, while British International School took third place with 163 points in Nigeria’s leading inter-school swimming competition.

The first leg of the championship, hosted by Grange School, featured 19 participating schools and clubs in the secondary category. The action will continue on November 1 when Children International School takes over as host for the elementary division, keeping the spirit of the competition alive among young swimmers across Lagos.

Technical Director of the Nigeria Aquatic Federation, Samuel Jesimiel, commended the Dolphin Swimming League for its pivotal role in developing young talent. He revealed that several standout performers at recent National Youth Games were products of the league, which has grown remarkably from seven schools at its inception to nearly double that number today—prompting a division into elementary and secondary categories.

Also speaking at the event, former Federation President Babatunde Fatayi-Williams lauded the league’s impact on grassroots swimming, noting that Lagos State won 19 of 25 gold medals at the last National Youth Games due to its strong developmental system. He called for the expansion of the Dolphin League to other cities such as Abuja and Port Harcourt to enhance junior swimming nationwide and ensure early exposure to the sport in primary and secondary schools.
