Nottingham Forest Sack Postecoglou After Heavy Chelsea Defeat

Nottingham Forest have dismissed head coach Ange Postecoglou after just eight matches in charge, following a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

In a statement posted on X, the club confirmed:

> “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

The decision came swiftly after Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis walked out of his seat midway through the match at City Ground.

Postecoglou, who joined the club on September 9 after guiding Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League success last season, leaves after a disastrous run — no wins and six losses in his first eight games.

The sacking makes him Forest’s second managerial casualty this season, as the club begins the search for its third boss of the campaign.

Speaking ahead of the Chelsea clash, the Greek-Australian coach had remained defiant, saying, “If I’m given time at a club, it always ends with me and a trophy.”

Reports suggest former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche is a leading candidate to replace him.

The defeat to Chelsea leaves Forest languishing near the bottom of the Premier League table, with mounting pressure to salvage their season.
