Thirteen-year-old Rhema-Love Abraham of Precepts Learning Field, Lagos, has emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 Heirs Insurance Essay Championship, earning a ₦5 million scholarship and a ₦1 million grant for her school.

The grand finale of the national competition was held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, marking the fourth edition of the annual event, which promotes financial literacy and academic excellence among secondary school students across Nigeria.

According to the organisers, this year’s competition — which attracted over 5,000 entries from junior secondary students nationwide — focused on the topic “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe and Secure.”

Abraham’s essay was selected after a rigorous evaluation by a distinguished panel of academic professionals, with the results independently verified by Deloitte & Touche.

Bernice Michael of S-TEE High School, Lagos, took second place, receiving a ₦2 million scholarship, while Afopefoluwa Tofio-Jacobs of D-IVY College, Ogun State, placed third and was awarded a ₦1 million scholarship.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Sector Head of Heirs Insurance Group, Niyi Onifade, praised the creativity and excellence displayed by all participants, reaffirming the Group’s commitment to nurturing future leaders through education.
