The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has officially flagged off the construction of the 13.1-kilometre Ariam Usaka Ring Road in Ikwuano Local Government Area.
Governor Otti, who arrived at the Obeama Ariam Model Primary School, venue of the event, was received by jubilant residents, traditional rulers, and community leaders who described the project as a long-awaited intervention.
The road project, which will connect several agrarian communities within Ikwuano, is expected to enhance rural accessibility, boost agricultural productivity, and stimulate economic growth in the area.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable infrastructure development across all parts of Abia State, emphasizing that rural communities will no longer be neglected.
He also assured the people that the project will be completed to the highest standards and within schedule, adding that the state government will continue to prioritize projects that directly impact citizens’ welfare.
