The management of Enyimba Football Club of Aba has issued a two-match ultimatum to the team’s Technical Adviser, Coach Stanley Eguma, following a string of poor results in the ongoing 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Monday by the club’s media officer, Samson Orji, after a management review meeting held in Aba. The decision came in the aftermath of Enyimba’s 2-1 defeat to Plateau United on matchday 10 at the New Jos Stadium.
The loss marked the club’s third consecutive defeat, following earlier setbacks against Warri Wolves in Aba and Kun Khalifat FC in Owerri — a run that has seen the nine-time champions slump to ninth place on the NPFL table.
According to the statement, the club’s management has directed the technical crew to secure positive results in their next two fixtures — against Kano Pillars in Aba this weekend and Abia Warriors in Umuahia — or face possible sanctions.
“Enyimba FC is a club with a proud winning culture and a long-standing expectation of excellence,” the statement read. “While we appreciate the efforts of the technical crew so far, the current performance does not align with the club’s ambition. We expect an immediate response, beginning with Sunday’s home fixture against Kano Pillars.”
The club assured its fans and stakeholders that measures are being taken to restore the team’s competitive edge and ensure a turnaround in form as the season progresses. Enyimba currently sit ninth on the NPFL log, level on 13 points with tenth-placed Kwara United after 10 matches.
