Super Falcons’ Michelle Alozie Nominated for 2025 FIFPRO World XI

Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has been named among the 26 nominees for the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World XI — the only global football award voted for exclusively by professional players.

Alozie, who represents Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), is one of three Africans shortlisted. She played a key role in Nigeria’s record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph in Morocco earlier this year.

The other African nominees include Moroccan captain Ghizlane Chebbak and Zambia’s skipper Barbra Banda. The final World XI will feature the 11 players with the highest votes in their respective positions.

According to FIFPRO, eligible players must have featured in at least 20 official matches—domestic, national, or international—between August 11, 2024, and August 3, 2025. The winners will be unveiled on Monday, November 3.

In the men’s category, Lionel Messi holds the record for the most appearances with 17 selections, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo with 15. In the women’s division, Wendie Renard and Lucy Bronze share the record with seven appearances each.

The FIFPRO World XI was first introduced in 2005, with the women’s version debuting in 2016.
