The coordinator of the Lagos Women Run, Tayo Popoola, has announced that the 10th edition of the All-Women 10km race will not only connect communities but also empower women through a comprehensive skills acquisition program.

Themed “One Run, a Thousand Opportunities,” this year’s event is scheduled for November 8, starting from the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, and finishing at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena, Onikan.

According to Popoola, the milestone edition celebrates a decade of inspiring women, promoting fitness, and fostering unity across Lagos. She emphasized that the initiative focuses on empowering women, recognizing their resilience, and sustaining its legacy by creating life-changing opportunities for participants.

Popoola highlighted that the Lagos Women Run has become a platform for discovering talent, promoting wellness, and offering women a chance to train for larger road races. Beyond fitness, it has built a strong sense of community, encouraging women from diverse backgrounds to connect, network, and celebrate one another.

She described the event as inclusive and non-discriminatory, open to women of all social classes, adding that it promotes mental and physical well-being by helping participants break isolation, overcome depression, and rediscover themselves.

“The Lagos Women Run has empowered countless women to take charge of their lives, build confidence, and develop new skills,” Popoola said. “It continues to serve as a catalyst for personal growth and transformation, inspiring women to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.”

She commended the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Sports Commission, for its continuous partnership and support, which has been instrumental to the success and impact of the event.

“We are proud to be part of this journey that empowers women to become change agents in their communities,” Popoola added. “We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the Lagos State Government and other stakeholders to create even greater impact.”

In addition to the race, the Lagos Women Run Empowerment Program will run from November 3 to 6, featuring four days of training and capacity-building sessions designed to equip women with essential skills, knowledge, and opportunities for success.
