Eddie Hearn Confirms Anthony Joshua’s Return Before Year-End, Hints at Possible Jake Paul Clash

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has confirmed that the British-Nigerian heavyweight will make his long-awaited return to the ring before the end of the year.

Speaking with Chris Mannix about the former two-time world champion’s comeback plans following elbow surgery, Hearn revealed that Joshua could feature in one of Matchroom Boxing’s upcoming events scheduled for November 15, December 13, or December 27.

When asked directly if Joshua would fight on one of those dates, Hearn’s response was brief but telling: “Yes.”

Joshua has not fought since September 2024, when he suffered a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium — a result that denied him a chance to reclaim the IBF heavyweight title and become a three-time world champion.

Following successful elbow surgery during the summer, Joshua had initially hinted at a February 2026 return. However, Hearn now suggests the comeback could happen sooner than expected, though he noted that Joshua’s next fight might not headline a major card.

Meanwhile, Hearn has expressed openness to a potential blockbuster bout between Joshua and social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul. The idea emerged amid uncertainty surrounding Paul’s scheduled November 14 exhibition against Gervonta Davis, who faces multiple legal charges, including battery and false imprisonment.

“We’re available,” Hearn said. “If you’re asking me whether we’d take the fight — of course, we’d take it. It would be a great way to end the year. But does Jake Paul really want to fight Anthony Joshua? He’s a crazy guy if he does.”

A successful return for Joshua this year could also set up a potential showdown with Tyson Fury in 2026 — provided “The Gypsy King” follows through on reports of a possible return from retirement.
