President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the victory as a strong endorsement of his visionary leadership and transformative governance.

Soludo’s decisive win in Saturday’s election makes him only the third governor in Anambra’s history to secure a second term. The President also commended the people of Anambra, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a peaceful and successful electoral process.

“The re-election of Professor Soludo is a testament to his visionary leadership and the remarkable progress Anambra State has achieved under his guidance,” Tinubu said. He praised Soludo, popularly known as “Mr. Solution,” for demonstrating that academic excellence and sound policy can yield accountable, transparent, and prudent governance.

Reflecting on his visit to Anambra in May, when he inaugurated several Soludo-led projects, the President lauded the thoughtfulness behind the initiatives, calling the experience “indelible.” He added, “Governor Soludo has brought discipline, brilliance, and fresh perspectives to governance. Under his leadership, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.”

Tinubu urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory and to collaborate with opponents for the collective advancement of the state. He assured Soludo of the federal government’s unwavering support and expressed optimism about strengthened cooperation between Anambra and the center.

He further noted that the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) victory reflects the vibrancy of Nigeria’s democracy, proving that electoral success comes to leaders who deliver tangible results. Tinubu also commended the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting a credible election, urging them to maintain and improve these standards.

Observers from the European Union and domestic monitoring groups reported that the election was largely peaceful, with minimal disruptions at polling stations. INEC officials highlighted that electronic result transmission and improved logistics enhanced transparency, addressing a key civil society demand after the 2023 elections.

Since taking office in 2022, Soludo has focused on infrastructure development, education reform, and public sector digitalisation. He pledged that his second term would build on these priorities, consolidating peace and driving economic growth across Anambra State.
