Galatasaray Hesitant on Ademola Lookman Amid Struggling Form

Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray are reportedly cautious in their pursuit of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman due to the player’s recent dip in form, according to club insider Burhan Can Terzi.

Lookman, who has experienced a turbulent start to the season at Atalanta, has been linked with a January move away from Italy, with Galatasaray widely tipped as a potential destination. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Monday that while Atalanta are open to discussions over the 28-year-old, no agreements have yet been reached with either Galatasaray or Lookman’s representatives.

Terzi added that the Turkish side are still monitoring Lookman, hoping for an upturn in his performances before making any move. “Galatasaray’s management has concerns about Lookman’s recent displays. His recent form hasn’t impressed, and the club may consider other options ahead of him,” he said, as reported by Turkish football account Forza Climbom.

After a strong 2024/25 season with 15 goals and five assists, Lookman’s form has dipped this term, with just one goal in seven Serie A appearances. His troubles date back to last season, when a fallout with former Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini over a comment on his penalty abilities escalated into a standoff with the club, including a failed €40m transfer to Inter Milan and a temporary strike. Though reintegrated under Ivan Juric, further tensions arose before Juric was eventually dismissed.
