Maiden Benin Unity Cup Kicks Off Today with Star-Studded Opening Ceremony

The inaugural Benin Unity Cup is set to begin today with a vibrant opening ceremony, followed by the first match featuring Ovia North-East LG and Ikpoba-Okha LG teams.

According to the organising committee, led by Fred Erhunmwunsee, Chairman of the Edo Football Association, the ceremony and opening game will kick off at 3 pm at the Crescent Sports Club Complex on Iriri-Aruogba Road, Benin City.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will serve as the special guest of honour. Other notable attendees include Deputy Governor Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly Rt Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, and Commissioner for Youth Charity Amanyaemwo, among others.

Senator Neda Imasuen, the visionary sponsor of the Benin Unity Cup, will also be present for the opening ceremony and kickoff.

Following the opening match, the tournament will continue with several games on Saturday. The semi-finals are slated for December 13, with the third-place match and finals scheduled for December 20 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
