Hull City and Derby County Target Nigerian Forward Rafiu Durosinmi in January

Hull City and Derby County are among several English clubs reportedly eyeing Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi ahead of the January transfer window. According to Football Insider, both Championship sides are monitoring the forward as they look to strengthen their attacking options mid-season.

Derby County enter the winter break in strong form, having won five consecutive matches to rise to tenth in the Championship, while Hull City sit fifth following a promising start to the season. Both clubs made significant squad changes over the summer, with Derby investing heavily under manager John Eustace and Hull navigating financial restrictions before reinforcing their squad.

Durosinmi, who is out of contract with Viktoria Plzen in the summer, could be available for a reduced fee of around £5.7 million (€6.5m). The 22-year-old began his career at Box2Box FC in Nigeria before moving to MFK Karvina in 2022 and then to Plzen for €850,000. Despite suffering two ACL injuries in 2023 and 2024, he has made a strong return this season, scoring 11 goals in 24 appearances, including four goals in European competitions.

Football Insider also reports interest from Oxford United and Huddersfield Town, highlighting the forward’s growing appeal in England. Hull City are expected to seek a long-term option upfront as Oli McBurnie nears the latter stages of his career, while Derby County, with existing attacking depth, aim to bolster their squad further. The January window will reveal whether either club moves to secure Durosinmi’s services.
