Abia State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, worshipped on Sabbath with members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Umuogo, in Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area, alongside his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Chidimma Otti, their children and family members.
During the service, the Governor participated in the commissioning, dedication, and consecration of the newly completed church building in the Nsukwe District of the Abia North Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Speaking to the congregation after the sermon, Governor Otti congratulated the church for successfully completing the project. He noted that while starting a project may be easy, successfully completing it is the true achievement. He wished the worshippers a prosperous New Year and prayed that God would preserve everyone beyond 2026 until the fulfillment of their days on earth.
Commending the preacher for his message, the Governor reminded the congregation that while actions are important, the most important thing is ensuring a right relationship with God. He emphasized that it is not enough to merely claim God’s promises without faith and commitment, adding that miracles do happen but believers must also play their part.
Delivering the sermon titled “Prophetic Declaration for 2026,” Pastor Prof. B.E.O Udoh, President of the West and Central African Division of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, which covers 22 countries with headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, drew his message from Ezekiel 12:28. He stressed that God’s promises are fulfilled under the condition of obedience to His will and assured worshippers that none of God’s promises concerning them in 2026 would be delayed if they remain obedient.
The Governor was accompanied to the service by top government officials.
