The Igbo World Union has commended its President General, His Imperial Majesty Ambassador Mishak Nnanta, for what it described as a timely spiritual intervention that has boosted the morale and performance of the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations championship in Morocco. The Union said his gesture reflected the deep cultural and spiritual values of the Igbo people, which emphasize encouragement, unity and divine backing in moments of national significance.
According to a statement released by the organization, Ambassador Nnanta recently visited Morocco, where he met with members of the Super Eagles team ahead of their crucial matches. The visit, the Union noted, was not only symbolic but also strategic, as it aimed to inspire the players and remind them that millions of Nigerians, especially from the Igbo extraction, stand firmly behind them.
During the visit, the President General reportedly raised the sacred Ofo from his Ikiri Agu Palace, a revered symbol of authority, truth and divine justice in Igbo tradition. He offered prayers and spiritual blessings to the team, invoking protection, courage and victory throughout the tournament. The act was described as a rare blend of cultural heritage and national patriotism.
Eyewitnesses said the atmosphere during the blessing was solemn yet uplifting, with players and officials expressing gratitude for the show of solidarity. Many of them reportedly described the moment as emotionally strengthening, adding that it gave them renewed confidence and focus as they prepared for their matches.
The Igbo World Union believes that the Super Eagles’ impressive outings so far at the tournament are not unconnected to the prayers and goodwill extended to them. The group emphasized that beyond physical training and tactical preparation, spiritual and moral support play a significant role in shaping the mindset of athletes at critical moments.
The Union has therefore urged Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to continue supporting the Super Eagles in every possible way as they push for continental glory. It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity through culture, sports and shared national values, while applauding Ambassador Mishak Nnanta for projecting Igbo heritage on the international stage in such a positive and inspiring manner.
