The Federal Government has expressed strong support for the Super Eagles following their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 campaign, saying Nigeria remains proud of the team despite their semi‑final loss to Morocco.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, thanked the players for representing the nation with pride, resilience, and teamwork throughout the tournament. He said that although the squad did not reach the final, their effort and fight on the pitch earned the admiration and gratitude of Nigerians at home and abroad.

Idris described the green and white jersey as a symbol of courage, unity, and perseverance, urging the team to “hold your heads high, learn from this experience, and return stronger.”

The Super Eagles were eliminated from the competition after a 4–2 penalty shootout defeat to host nation Morocco in the semi‑final, following a goalless draw in regular and extra time.

Meanwhile, supporters and figures in the Nigerian sports community have continued to back the team, with prominent benefactors reaffirming pledges of support and encouragement as the Eagles prepare for their third‑place playoff.
