Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, the member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has commended the endorsement of Governor Alex Otti by former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, describing it as a timely call for unity and collective responsibility among the state’s political leaders.

Akaliro said Dr. Ogah’s declaration of support for Governor Otti’s second-term ambition reflects a growing recognition of the administration’s reform-driven governance and commitment to rebuilding public confidence in Abia State. He noted that the endorsement goes beyond partisan politics and underscores the shared desire of well-meaning Abians to sustain the current momentum of development.

According to the lawmaker, Abia is at a critical stage where unity of purpose among political actors is essential for consolidating the gains recorded under the present administration. He stressed that collaboration, rather than division, remains the most effective pathway to delivering lasting dividends of democracy to the people.

Akaliro further observed that Governor Otti’s administration has demonstrated a clear focus on transparency, accountability and people-centred policies, which he said are gradually restoring public trust in governance. He maintained that endorsements from respected leaders such as Dr. Ogah serve to reinforce public confidence in the direction of the state.

The Umuahia North legislator also described the closed-door meeting between Dr. Ogah and Governor Otti at the governor’s country home in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area, as a constructive engagement aimed at strengthening the collective resolve to move Abia forward. He said such interactions send a reassuring message to citizens that the political leadership is aligning around the broader interest of the state.

Akaliro called on other political stakeholders to place the progress of Abia State above personal ambition, urging them to support policies and leadership that prioritise economic growth, social development and institutional reforms. He added that sustained unity among leaders would accelerate development and deepen democratic stability across the state.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote inclusive governance and long-term development, expressing optimism that the emerging consensus around Governor Otti’s leadership would further strengthen Abia’s journey towards sustainable growth and prosperity.
