Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle, is stepping up efforts to strengthen the national football team by actively recruiting players born or based abroad who are eligible to represent the country.

Chelle has already secured commitments from a few foreign‑born defenders, including Felix Agu and Ryan Alebiosu, and has convinced Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to pledge his international future to Nigeria.

The coach is now in talks with several more dual‑nationality stars, with at least five players under consideration to switch allegiances — a move aimed at broadening the team’s talent pool ahead of upcoming competitions.

In a recent interview, Chelle acknowledged that while many players want to play for Nigeria, only those who can boost competition and align with his tactical plans will ultimately be selected for the squad.

This strategy reflects a broader effort by the Super Eagles to balance domestic and foreign‑based talent as they prepare for future international fixtures.
