Nigerian long-distance runner Blessing Solomon has been handed a multi-year suspension after being found guilty of violating anti-doping regulations. The decision followed laboratory analysis that detected a prohibited substance in her competition sample.

According to the disciplinary ruling, the test was conducted during a certified road race event, and the result triggered a formal investigation under global athletics anti-doping rules. After reviewing the case, authorities imposed a competition ban and voided the athlete’s results from the affected race.

Officials noted that the length of the suspension reflects both the type of substance involved and the athlete’s response during the review process. Acceptance of the violation contributed to a reduced penalty compared to the standard maximum term.

With the sanction now in effect, the runner will be ineligible for sanctioned competitions for the duration of the ban, while race titles, rankings, and prize earnings linked to the event have been withdrawn.
