Kaduna Revives Long-Absent Pilgrimage Program for Christians

After more than a decade on hold, the Kaduna State Government has reinstated its Christian pilgrimage programme, allowing 50 believers to embark on a spiritual journey with official support.

The initiative, last active in 2014, had been discontinued under previous leadership when the state’s Christian Pilgrims Welfare Agency was shut down.

Officials said the revival reflects a renewed commitment to fairness and respect for religious diversity. During a recent orientation session for the pilgrims, Kaduna’s Head of Service praised Governor Uba Sani for restoring support for spiritual travel, emphasizing that faith-based engagement matters alongside other development efforts.

The Commissioner for Information urged the participants to use the opportunity to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity across the state and country. Community leaders welcomed the move as a positive step toward mutual respect and inclusion. Governor Sani’s decision was described by Christian Association leaders as a bold effort to rebuild trust and promote harmony in Kaduna’s diverse society.
