Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has reaffirmed his happiness playing for Galatasaray in Turkey, following a stellar performance in their 3-1 victory over Corendon Alanyaspor on Saturday.
In the Turkish Super Lig clash, Osimhen both scored and assisted, setting up Lucas Torreira for Galatasaray’s second goal in the 58th minute before capitalizing on a goalkeeper error to seal the win in the 83rd minute. He was substituted three minutes later for Mauro Icardi.
The 27-year-old Nigerian international has now scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 16 league appearances for the Yellow and Reds this season. Speaking to Galatasaray’s official media, Osimhen said:
“I am very happy at Galatasaray. Since my arrival, both my family and I have enjoyed great support from the president, the coach, the team, and everyone around the club. They make everything very easy for us. I love my club, my coach, and the fans. We operate with mutual love and respect.”
On the remainder of the 2025/26 season, Osimhen added:
“We’re taking it one match at a time. The upcoming match against Beşiktaş is crucial. It will be a tough game against a high-quality team, but we also have a very strong squad. Our goal is three points. After that, we face Liverpool and a cup match against Alanyaspor, many challenges lie ahead until the season ends.”
Regarding his decision to hand the captain’s armband to İlkay Gündoğan, Osimhen explained:
“He is someone I respect greatly, calm yet motivating, with a clear vision. Giving him the armband felt right, he deserves it. He always supports the team and helps whenever he is on the pitch.”
Reflecting on his arrival at the club, Osimhen said:
“Everything the club and fans have done for me since I arrived is very valuable. Coming on loan, I didn’t expect such a warm reception. Our fans create a special bond with the players, it’s beyond football. We are a family, sharing the highs and lows together, and I’m truly grateful for their support.”
On Saturday’s win, he concluded simply: “The important thing is that we won the match.”
