As the world marks International Women’s Day, renowned business leader and former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah, has joined millions across the globe in celebrating the remarkable contributions of women in Abia State, Nigeria, and across the nation.
In a goodwill message released to commemorate the global event, Dr. Ogah praised women for their strength, resilience, and invaluable role in shaping families, communities, and the nation’s development. He described women as the foundation upon which stable homes, thriving businesses, and progressive societies are built.
Reflecting on the 2026 International Women’s Day theme, “Give To Gain,” Dr. Ogah noted that the theme underscores the importance of investing in women through opportunities, support, and empowerment. According to him, when societies give women the tools and platforms they need to succeed, the benefits are multiplied across families, communities, and the wider economy.
The former minister specifically applauded women in Abia State for their industrious spirit and their active role in commerce, education, healthcare, governance, and community development. He noted that the progress recorded in many sectors of society would not have been possible without the tireless contributions of women who continue to break barriers and inspire younger generations.
Dr. Ogah also emphasized the importance of expanding opportunities for women through inclusive policies, access to quality education, entrepreneurship support, and leadership development. He urged both public and private institutions to continue supporting initiatives that promote gender equality and create a more enabling environment for women to thrive.
He concluded by congratulating women across Abia State and Nigeria for their remarkable achievements and sacrifices, encouraging them to remain bold, confident, and determined as they continue to shape the future of the nation. He reaffirmed his support for initiatives and programs that uplift women and strengthen their role in leadership and national development.
