Nigeria is set to host the fifth edition of the Women’s T20 International (T20I) Invitational Tournament at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos from March 18 to 29. The event will feature teams from Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and the South Africa Under‑19 squad, showcasing Nigeria’s growing influence in women’s cricket.

The tournament, which started as a bilateral series between Nigeria and Rwanda, has expanded into one of West Africa’s most prominent women’s cricket competitions. Officials say the inclusion of stronger international teams this year highlights Nigeria’s rising standards and commitment to developing the sport.

In addition to the matches, the event will host youth development programs, including cricket clinics and community outreach initiatives aimed at nurturing young talent and increasing participation in women’s cricket nationwide.

Organizers believe that consistent hosting of international events like this not only strengthens Nigeria’s cricketing reputation but also opens opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships, setting the stage for further growth in African women’s cricket.
