Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing High Chief Victor Ikeji as the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the Federal Character Commission.
The governor gave the commendation on Thursday while receiving Ikeji and his delegation at the Government House.
Otti described the appointment as well-deserved and appreciated by the people of Abia, noting that the President made a sound decision in selecting Ikeji for the role.
He expressed confidence that Ikeji would uphold the core values of the Commission—fairness, equity, and justice—and assured that he would perform creditably in office.
The governor also congratulated Ikeji, describing him as “a square peg in a square hole,” and urged him to make a positive impact and improve the institution.
Otti further used the occasion to commend President Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, which he acknowledged may be challenging in the short term but beneficial in the long run.
Earlier, High Chief Ikeji thanked the governor for his support and nomination, and pledged to represent Abia effectively. He assured that he would promote fairness and balanced representation in federal appointments, while strengthening the Commission’s presence in the state.
He also pledged to prioritise accountability, staff welfare, and improved performance within the Abia office of the Commission.
Top government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, were present at the meeting.
