President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to uphold the values of patience, tolerance, and compassion learned during Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season.

Speaking after Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos on Friday, the President said the lessons of the season should go beyond religious observance and contribute to national development. He emphasized the need for unity, shared responsibility, and peaceful coexistence across the country.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu stressed that peace and progress depend on citizens living harmoniously, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

He called on Nigerians to support security efforts by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities, noting that national safety is a collective responsibility.

The President also encouraged continued acts of kindness, generosity, and support for the vulnerable, saying such values should not end with Ramadan.

Reflecting on religion, Tinubu said while Nigerians may practice different faiths, they share common values rooted in belief in one God and the promotion of good conduct. He urged citizens to embrace diversity and strengthen national unity.

He also referenced his recent visit to the United Kingdom with the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, describing it as an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s diversity and spirit of tolerance on the global stage.

Dignitaries at the prayer ground included National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola.

In his remarks, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat reaffirmed the state’s commitment to peace and stability, while the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla, urged Muslims to maintain discipline and promote peace beyond the Ramadan period.

The President’s message reinforces the call for Nigerians to remain united and actively contribute to peace and security nationwide.
