Nigerian players delivered impressive performances across Europe over the weekend, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Ademola Lookman among the standout names after finding the net for their clubs. Several other Super Eagles stars also made key contributions in matches across England, Spain, Germany and Italy as the 2025/26 season continues.

Italy
Maduka Okoye (Udinese)
Maduka Okoye recorded his seventh clean sheet of the season as Udinese secured a 2-0 away win over Genoa on Friday.

Despite Genoa striking the crossbar twice, Okoye remained composed, commanding his defence and making crucial interventions. The recently recalled Super Eagles goalkeeper produced key saves and handled aerial threats confidently. He finished the game with two saves, two punches, two clearances and six recoveries, underlining his strong form.

Germany
Philip Otele (Hamburger SV)
Philip Otele marked his maiden Super Eagles call-up with his first Bundesliga goal, although Hamburg fell 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund.

The winger, on loan from Basel, opened the scoring in the 19th minute after being set up by William Mikelbrencis, showing composure to beat Gregor Kobel. His performance highlighted his growing influence in Germany.

Felix Agu (Werder Bremen)

Spain
Ademola Lookman (Atlético Madrid)
Ademola Lookman scored for Atlético Madrid, but his effort was not enough as they lost 3-2 to Real Madrid.

The Nigerian forward gave Atlético the lead in the 33rd minute, finishing a move assisted by Giuliano Simeone. However, Real Madrid fought back, and Lookman was later substituted in the second half.

Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke (Sevilla); Umar Sadiq (Valencia)
Akor Adams featured for Sevilla, while Chidera Ejuke remained an unused substitute in their 2-0 home defeat to Valencia. Umar Sadiq came on as a substitute for Valencia in the second half.

England
Taiwo Awoniyi, Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest)
Taiwo Awoniyi scored late to seal Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 victory over Tottenham, boosting their chances of avoiding relegation.

Awoniyi, introduced in the second half, struck in the 87th minute from a Neco Williams cross. Ola Aina played the full match, contributing to a solid team performance.

Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze (Fulham)
Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze all featured as Fulham defeated Burnley 3-1 to keep their European ambitions alive.

Iwobi and Bassey played the full game, while Chukwueze came on in the second half.

Frank Onyeka (Coventry City)
Frank Onyeka played the full match as Coventry City continued their push for Premier League promotion with a 3-0 win over Swansea City.

France
Moses Simon (Paris FC)
Moses Simon featured for 84 minutes in Paris FC’s 3-2 win over Le Havre. However, the winger’s goal drought continues, as he has now gone 13 league matches without scoring or assisting.
