The National Sports Commission (NSC) has urged all parties in Nigerian basketball to prioritize unity and fair play as the federation gears up for its leadership elections.
NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade highlighted the need for stakeholders to focus on advancing the sport rather than engaging in disputes that could harm its growth. He stressed that the upcoming polls should reflect transparency and professionalism.
With the current NBBF board, led by Ahmadu Musa Kida, set to remain until October 2026, the Commission reminded all members to respect the federation’s timeline and guidelines for elections. The emphasis is on maintaining stability while preparing for a smooth transition of leadership.
Olopade added that the reputation of Nigerian basketball and the welfare of its athletes depend on collaboration and responsible conduct from all involved, calling for an election process that will benefit the sport in the long term.
