Nigerian players delivered impressive performances across Europe over the weekend, with goals, assists and standout displays highlighting their growing influence as the 2025/26 season progresses.
Kelechi Iheanacho, Paul Onuachu and Frank Onyeka were among the top performers, while several other Super Eagles stars also made key contributions for their clubs.
Turkey
Paul Onuachu, Chibuike Nwaiwu and Anthony Nwakaeme were instrumental in Trabzonspor’s 3-1 victory over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig. Onuachu and Nwaiwu both scored, while Nwakaeme provided an assist as Trabzonspor moved within one point of the league leaders, who were without injured Victor Osimhen.
Onuachu opened the scoring in the third minute with a header from Wagner Pina’s cross, while Nwaiwu restored the lead in the 62nd minute, converting Nwakaeme’s free-kick. Onuachu now leads the league scoring chart with 22 goals, while Nwaiwu has three this season.
Elsewhere, Wilfred Ndidi was booked in Besiktas’ 1-0 loss to Fenerbahce, a result that dented their hopes of securing a UEFA Europa League spot.
England
Frank Onyeka scored his first goal for Coventry City in their 3-2 win over Derby County, finding the net in the 12th minute after a pass from Romain Esse. He also delivered a strong midfield performance as Coventry push for promotion.
Semi Ajayi marked his return from injury with an assist in Hull City’s 1-1 draw against Oxford United, setting up Mohamed Belloumi’s opener with a long pass.
Josh Maja was also on target, scoring from the penalty spot in West Brom’s 2-2 draw with Wrexham—his third league goal of the campaign.
Spain
Umar Sadiq registered an assist in Valencia’s 3-2 defeat to Celta Vigo, setting up a late goal for Guido Rodríguez after coming on in the second half.
At Sevilla, Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke featured in a narrow 1-0 loss to Real Oviedo, with Adams playing the full match and Ejuke appearing late on.

Kelechi Iheanacho ended a six-month goal drought with a decisive strike in Celtic’s 2-1 win over Dundee FC. Coming off the bench, he scored in the 82nd minute, finishing calmly from Marcelo Saracchi’s cross to secure victory.

Moses Usor impressed for LASK Linz, scoring and providing an assist in their 4-1 win over Austria Vienna. He set up the opening goal early on before adding his own to complete a dominant performance.
Germany
Nathan Tella played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen’s dramatic 6-3 comeback win over Wolfsburg. He won a penalty that led to the equaliser and remained influential throughout the match.
Portugal
Terem Moffi recorded an assist in FC Porto’s 2-2 draw with Famalicao, while Zaidu Sanusi received a yellow card before both players were substituted in the second half.
